Ribbon (formerly ECI Telecom) is looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join our UK Service Group. You will contribute to moderately complex aspects of a project and may assist more junior staff members with aspects of their job. Your work is independent and collaborative in nature. Provides regular updates to manager on project/account status.

You will contribute to moderately complex aspects of a project and may assist more junior staff members with aspects of their job. Your work is independent and collaborative in nature. Provides regular updates to manager on project/account status.
Responsibilities
- Provides engineering support to customers, customer support personnel and field support staff on systems and product issues
- Provides technical feedback to engineering concerning product issues
- May be called on-site to assist in complex technical problems
- Raise and update the Service request system in association with faults
- May quality check technical product documentation. Incumbents typically have a university education in an engineering specialty
Requirements
- 4 to 7 years' experience, will be required to participate in 24x7 365 day per year on call Rota and occasional night work to facilitate network upgrades
- Understanding and familiarity of SDH & PDH, DWDM & OTN
- Knowledge and understanding in MPLS-TP and IP-MPLS, MEF 2.0 PtP Ethernet services, CES (Circuit emulation services, TDM over Ethernet), EoS (Ethernet over SDH), E&M signaling - advantage
- VMware ESXi based servers
- Solaris/Unix & Linux servers
- SDN and NFV knowledge going forwards - advantage
- Very strong customer facing skills
- Competent with Microsoft Office
- Documentation ability
- Sound understanding of layer 2 and IP
- Knowledge of DSL access networks and products - advantage
- Familiarity with any of the following products - Syncom, XDM, BG, NPT or Apollo - advantage
