DRS is an alternative legal services provider to the financial services sector. Trusted by banks, asset managers, hedge funds and trading firms across the globe, we provide solutions that deliver rapid and efficient negotiation and remediation of document portfolios.
Established in 2009, we have approximately 120 members of staff, operating both on-site and off-site from offices in London and Newcastle. Our market leading team is led by our directors whom all have extensive legal and industry expertise within financial services.
Our ambition for the next five years is to grow to be the UK's largest provider of outsourced contract management services to the financial services industry.
We have recently diversified into software development and created a multifaceted SaaS platform using React, in order to aid our client's regulatory compliance with the FCA for their associated documentation, as well as exporting data for reporting purposes. We pride ourselves on cultivating an informal legal environment, with a flat structure, accessible senior management and open plan offices, and are pleased to have received The Sunday Times 'Best Small Company to Work for' award 2019, 2020.
We are just beginning to assert our own culture in the technology department of DRS. Having branched into the world of software just two years ago our team has all the flexibility, fluidity and malleability of a start-up, with the security of a well-established firm from the broader company. All our tech is two years old at the most, so the most 'legacy' code you'll be looking at is React and Node!
We have a lot of the staples of typical software firms, our uniform is smart-casual, and we have core hours but offer flexible working to encourage work/life balance. As such, this role has the option of working either 4 days or full-time.
Our department adapted quickly to the restrictions of COVID-19. We have moved to a primarily remote working mindset. While some meetings will be unavoidable in the office, we structure them around the team's convenience, and don't require you at your desk every day you're working. You'll be trusted to get on with your own work and manage your own time. We use Agile in our day-to-day work and encourage candid feedback amongst a primarily flat team structure.
More broadly in the company, our inclusive, collaborative and innovative team provides the opportunity for everyone to work together to grow both their own careers and the business. We're a diverse firm; speaking over 20 languages, with staff from over 23 countries. We are a market disruptor, and although we've been in business for over 10 years, we still have a buzzy 'start-up' environment, where you feel like you make a real contribution to the business and we have some budget set aside for training (one member of staff took the AWS certification, as an example), to help you grow and improve in your role.
We also have a large of focus on learning and development beyond the technical aspects of your role, with training focused on developing soft skills such as resilience, and recently introduced a mentoring scheme wihin the organisation.
Everyone in the office is really friendly with frequent drinks, treats and social events. We also have a weekly 'Breakfast Club' where everyone in the company gets together (virtually) to discuss business developments, achievements and knowledge share, as this is integral to our culture.
Due to our expansion, we will be moving into a bigger office in Newcastle city centre later this year, which will be a fully refurbished, open plan, equipped with a games facilities and easy access to local bars and restaurants.Responsibilities
You will initially work with Head of Technology and Senior Developer ito learn how to code and implement within the SaaS platform. Once you have become familiarised with the software, you will be working with AWS and hosting applications, as part of the day-to-day running of the platform.
This is a growing role and platform, where you'll have the opportunity to work on lots of exciting projects and enhance your skills and knowledge as a Developer.Requirements

- Experience using Git.
- Previous experience of using / crafting REST endpoints.
- Comprehensive understanding and live experience of working with React and a central state control engine

- Experience of using Mobx.

- Knowledge of Lambda functions and live experience of hosting inside AWS
