The University of Portsmouth is a leading modern university, which provides a world-class higher education, an outstanding student experience, with a strong reputation for globally significant research and innovation.

Revolution Plastics is a multidisciplinary project and initiative that is working on solutions to the world's plastic problem. Revolution Plastics is assembling teams of scientists, business-leaders, campaigners and citizens who share our ambition to transform the way we make, use and dispose of this polluting material.

The project is looking for an experienced communications professional to join the team. The position requires the ability to write engaging and accessible media content, develop strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, and promote and raise awareness of the Revolution Plastics work to internal and external audiences. As part of the work of the wider Revolution Plastics team, the postholder will support the development of media including written copy such as media releases, video and social media.

A thorough understanding of how the media works and knowledge of media relations practice, as well as experience of producing content for digital and social media, are important elements to the post. In addition to being a strong communicator, comfortable working across the university at all levels, the successful applicant will possess strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

If you would like to apply for this position, please send your cv, with accompanying letter stating reasons why you are applying for this post to Paul Gerard, Head of Media and Communications at paul.gerard@port.ac.uk, on or before the closing date.
