Job Details

Wonderful opportunity to join one of the UK's leading fintech disruptors as CFO. In the 18 months since the app launched it has out-performed expectations in terms of downloads, regular users and revenue and has achieved widespread praise.

The team is still small and highly skilled and requires a versatile CFO to step into a close knit group with many years of experience in consumer facing tech / fintech / scale up. The business is well funded by investors who have participated in multiple rounds. It will not need another injection for around 12 months.

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the whole management team the CFO will be ultimately responsible for managing the financials, reporting and analysis, presenting performance to the board. There is currently no in-house finance team, so the role will need to be hands on at times, although the technical reporting, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and other regulation tasks have all been outsourced. The CFO will need to maintain close control over the financials but time will be concentrated on:
  • budgeting, forecasting, planning;
  • monitoring and reporting on cash flow / liquidity;
  • modelling multiple different scenarios and potential outcomes;
  • supporting the management team with new projects / funding;
  • key role to play in fundraising;
  • contributing to the strategic direction;
  • driving performance and ultimately bottom line
  • maintaining relationships with investors;
  • importantly there are minimal regulatory requirements...

Applications are invited from qualified accountants who must have extensive board level experience of financial management in very high growth, privately funded businesses.

Knowledge of financial services / fintech is not required, however high growth digital consumer business experience would be preferred, exposing you to rapid scaling of the customer base, product offerings and managing high volumes of transactions. First-hand experience of a subscription revenue model could also be appealing.

We need a CFO who is robust, able to combine the close questioning of seasoned Founders with immersing themselves in fluid financial models. An exciting business like this naturally creates numerous opportunities (and setbacks) and it is critical we have a CFO who is solution orientated, who can see potential and is not only concerned with costs / runway.

Applicants who have worked with private equity investors before would be preferred but a very high quality CFO who ticks all the other boxes would be considered.

This is a wonderful opportunity to benefit from an equity stake in a prizewinning, high profile tech business just as it reaches critical mass and lifts off.
