We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Engineering Team as a Senior Engineer. This role will have a focus on Mechanical/Development Engineering and will sit within our New Products R&D team.The Details:
On site there is extensive provision for rapid functional prototyping and testing. Our mechanical workshop includes mill, lathe, high resolution multi-material 3D printer, pick & place and dispenser robots, a polymer laser welder and CO2 laser cutter. Our development lab includes the latest instrumentation for imaging, sensing, data logging, and running automation systems. This exciting and challenging role is responsible for:
- Creating innovative concepts to address the technical needs of new products
- Conducting design feasibility studies; detailing assumptions, calculations, analysis, results and conclusions in technical reports to guide product development
- Designing and developing new product concepts including system level evaluation through to detailed calculation, design, testing and analysis.
- Supporting and troubleshooting the introduction of new products into pilot production
The engineering department is responsible for the design of instruments, consumables and functional packaging as well as novel manufacturing systems from concept through to automated production. The team includes over 30 engineers, with core strengths in mechanical, fluidic, electronic, firmware, and production engineering.
Our products have proven uniquely suited to thousands of applications around the world and our production and product range is increasing rapidly in response. We place a strong emphasis on maximising new product function within radically small form factors. We engineer each product from first principles and as a result, nearly all parts are custom designed.
We maintain strong relationships with quality-focused, local, high tech suppliers for moulding, machining, electronics and other prototyping. Combined with the capability to build and test any of our products on site, we are able to achieve exceptionally rapid development from concept to production.What We're Looking For...
We're looking for a Senior Engineer with enthusiasm for problem-solving and good attention to detail plus experience in prototyping and rapid manufacturing technologies.
We'll expect you to be educated to a degree level in Engineering or Physics with extensive experience in precision, high tech, medical or engineering roles with responsibility for new product technical development. If you also have experience with injection moulding, fluid dynamics, polymers and joining technologies this would also be advantageous. You'll have skills in translating product requirements into design and development objectives and have good time management skills to ensure prioritisation and completion of key objectives to enable concurrent engineering.
