Due to the continuing growth of bet365, we are looking for a Team Leader to manage a new team of SQL server developers as part of the Management Information Systems function.

As a highly motivated and positive MIS Database Team Leader, you will be leading a team of SQL Server Developers in the design, development and upkeep of the key data sources that drive the MIS department.

The MIS SQL Development teams are fast paced, dynamic and challenging teams to lead. The day to day work is both varied and interesting. Apart from managing the team you will be leading large scale projects, liaising with other departments, ensuring high quality of work whilst always looking to improve the systems to better handle the challenges of a rapidly changing company.

The current technology stack is almost exclusively Microsoft SQL Server

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Recent commercial database development experience including excellent T-SQL skills, preferably with SQL Server 2012 (or later)
  • Good understanding of database design concepts and techniques with the ability to convert complex problems into simple solutions
  • Highly organised and adaptable, capable of managing multiple substantial work streams simultaneously
  • Adept at prioritisation, delivery and driving efficiency in a high throughput environment
  • The ability to understand technical vernacular and accurately communicate to technical and non-technical staff
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Collaborative leader who can work cross functionally to deliver solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail whilst always keeping the "bigger picture" to mind
  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams so that they work harmoniously and effectively
  • Previous team management experience advantageous

Main Responsibilities

  • Line management of a busy team of SQL Server developers with varying degrees of experience
  • The prioritisation, triaging, assigning and tracking of work items
  • Ensuring the correct governance is carried out on all work items
  • Liaising with the business and management, providing progress updates and escalations when required
  • Ensuring that requirements from the business are accurate and complete
  • Ensuring the team's output meet the requirements whilst also adhering to the best architectural and design practices, and that code is simple, efficient and clean
  • Continually improving work practices and procedures
  • Responsible for mentoring, appraising, coaching and development of the members of the team
  • Technical management of SQL Server database servers and SQL Agent processes
  • Ensuring the quality and integrity of:
  • Highly optimised databases and aggregations that underpin most of the MIS reporting functions

o High profile reporting for the Board, Finance department and regulatory bodies
