Software Engineer III

Join our Team:

As a Software Engineer, you will be involved in helping develop new technologies that are being used to enrich Elsevier content, improving discoverability, extracting new datasets, and improving content utility.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for delivering technical solutions - contributing to all aspects of software delivery (design, architecture, development, infrastructure, and testing) - following agile development practices including continuous integration/development and code reviews and will care about quality, reliability, and performance.

Additionally, you will actively engage in your professional and personal development, stay appraised of software delivery trends, and introduce new ideas to the team.

A Software Engineer, we would require the following:

  • 3+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • Have hands-on experience using Front-end development with Angular JS/HTML/CSS
  • Have knowledge of Java web-services
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components
  • Ability to complete complex bug fixes


Nice to have but not essential:

  • Automated UI QA - e.g. Selenium
  • Experience building and running CI/CD pipelines (ideally Jenkins)
  • Strong experience working in Agile software environments (Scrum / Kanban)
  • Strong experience with agile work management systems (JIRA preferred)
  • Cloud experience (ideally AWS)
  • Git source code repository experience
  • Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD)
