Technical Accounting Manager/Director | London | US Listed Media | £60,000 - £90,000 + Benefits + Bonus

A household name in the media space are recruiting a new Technical Accounting Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity for an ACA practice trained individual looking for that next step.

Technical Accounting

• Keep up to date with existing and new accounting and regulatory literature to ensure that the Group complies with all relevant accounting standards (IFRS) and regulation.
• Implementation of new US GAAP accounting standards to the business
• Evaluating and interpreting US GAAP rules and applying accounting policies
• Updating accounting policies on an annual basis
• Provide guidance on technical accounting issues as they arise around the business including, Revenue recognition, Business acquisitions including purchase price accounting, Annual intangible asset impairment analysis and other valuations
• Review of all significant accounting matters in the business
• Providing training to all global regions on key accounting policies and topics
• Manage preparation and issuance of quarterly technical accounting newsletter
• Completion of accounting memos for presentation to Controller and CFO
• Liase with auditors regarding technical accounting queries during audit
• Commercial contract reviews (providing advice with members of commercial finance, fixed asset and technology accounting issues and clearing the accounting position taken with the external auditors)

Due Diligence

• Involvement in financial due diligence for potential acquisitions globally
• Liase with other areas of finance to ensure a coherent position
• Presentation to the Finance Leadership Team on the results of the due diligence
• Advising on contract terms in the negotiation progress
• Liase with post acquisition integration team to ensure seamless integration
• Verification
• Review all external filings to ensure that all statements and data are fully supported
• Support legal in their interactions with external lawyers in providing and justifying data

Other Tasks

• Compliance with US GAAP on all accounts
• Compliance with SOX controls applicable to responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Training, Education:

• Chartered Accountant ideally Big 4 trained
• Strong technical Accountant with excellent knowledge of US GAAP and ideally SEC Reporting
• Exposure to SOX and SEC reporting
• Strong managerial and coaching skills
• Excellent collaborator among cross-functional teams
• Confident and resilient
