Data Engineer / Up to £70,000 / Reading
Data Engineer wanted by my leading, household name client in Reading to support on their journey to being a data first, digital organisation.
The Data Engineer will be leading a team of Data Engineers who are responsible for the acquisitions and delivery of data to their world class Azure platform.
It is often said that 'opportunities are fantastic' and then you delve a little deeper and they are bog standard at best. The Data Engineer is truly a fantastic opportunity to deliver something truly special into a business that is right at the start but wants to be at the forefront of data driven technological innovation.
This will be a key role on my client's data journey and will be responsible for managing the roadmap to develop, construct, test and maintain architectures such as data pipelines and large-scale data processing systems. Leveraging industry best practice while delivering changes, such as agile backlogs, code repositories, automated builds, testing and releases. Ensure data scientists can pull relevant data sets for their analyses. Implement data pipelines to connect operational systems, data for analytics and BI systems. Re-engineer manual data flows to enable scaling and repeatable use.
The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing data set processes for data modelling, mining, and production. Work closely with data architects (to determine what data management systems are appropriate) and data scientists (to determine which data are needed for analysis). Provide clean, usable data to the business through the data platform in accordance with governance. Leading the data engineer team in the best way to do this Analyses, designs, plans, executes and evaluates data requirements to support business activities and projects.
Data Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Strong Data Engineering background
- Strong experience with ETL Tools
- Experience building ETL processes
- Experience with Python
- Experience of working within Agile environments
- Strong, wide range of technical skills. It would be great if you have exposure to things like Azure, DevOps, Data Bricks, SQL, API, PowerShell, Python etc.
The Data Engineer is a permanent role offering up to £70,000 with a bonus up to 20% and excellent corporate benefits.
