Job Details
Company: England and Wales Cricket Board
Reporting to: Director of Digital and Data
Location: London (Lords)/Remote
Term: Permanent
Salary: upto £75k
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the national governing body for all cricket in England and Wales, supporting the game at every level - from grassroots to professional. ECB believes cricket is a force for good that can have an enduring impact on everyone's lives and has an ambitious strategy to inspire a generation to say 'cricket is a game for me'. It provides great entertainment. It teaches important skills, both physical and social. It can help inclusion and social cohesion, bringing communities together.
ECB is looking for a Head of Data to implement their data strategy, manage the way that data is collected and recorded, and enable data-led insight that powers digital and marketing activity. ECB is at the start of a very exciting time in cricket with more people than ever engaged with the game, whether that is playing, attending matches or viewing on TV.
Reporting into the Director of Digital and Data within the ECB's Commercial department your role will be to accelerate our progress as a data-driven organisation. Like many organisations the ECB has the ambition to understand our cricket audiences better, serve them with a customer experience in line with their interests and behaviour, and look to enable enhanced commercial opportunities. You will work closely with senior leaders within the Commercial, IT and Strategy departments to identify and create a plan to achieve single customer view across fan and player data and start executing to achieve this. You will also co-ordinate with various internal and external teams and key partners to consolidate multiple data sources and turn them into commercially relevant information. The mandate will also define how data is used to understand customers, develop digital products and work with commercial partners.
We are seeking an experienced data professional with a data led mindset and an ability to use data to inform customer acquisition and retention tactics. Expertise in using evidence-based approaches and understanding of audiences, turning data and insight into actions are key to the success of this role. You will have hands-on experience of progressive data capture, database table design, insight and reporting tools as well as a proven track record of creating and ameliorating a single customer view. As Head of Data, you will have a good understanding of the technology landscape, key vendors and architecture to bring a data-led culture to life. Experience of web analytics, SQL, data warehouses, data modelling, data cleansing is also essential. Additionally, as a leadership position, the role requires an experience of and enthusiasm for leading a team and developing people.
You'll love this job if you have a passion for combining data and sport; if you have plenty of ideas around best practice data strategy, and innovation and data modelling techniques and if you enjoy managing and developing a team, as well as working across a number of different stakeholders and suppliers.
