We are looking for a Compliance Officer to ensure that our operations and business transactions follow all relevant legal and internal rules. You will also review employees' work and provide advice on compliance.

To succeed in this role, you should be a reliable professional who is not afraid to speak their mind and stand by their decisions. You should be familiar with risk management and our industry's standards. If you also have a sharp business acumen, we'd like to meet you.

  • Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program
  • Create sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them
  • Draft and revise company policies
  • Proactively audit processes, practices and documents to identify weaknesses
  • Evaluate business activities to assess compliance risk
  • Collaborate with external auditors and HR when needed
  • Set plans to manage a crisis or compliance violation
  • Educate and train employees on regulations and industry practices
  • Address employee concerns or questions on legal compliance
  • Keep abreast of internal standards and business goals

The remit of your role will depend your specialist area, but it's likely that you will also be responsible for compliance with professional standards (such as voluntary best practice) and internal standards.

As a compliance professional, you'll need to:

* perform risk assessments to understand risk level, significance and scope

* keep up to date with, and understand, relevant laws and regulations

* monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies

* ensure that your findings are recorded and followed up with management so that issues can be rectified

* educate employees on not only the regulations, but also the impact on the organisation if these aren't complied with

* investigate irregularities and non-compliance issues

* report back to business functions on current risk and compliance performance

* highlight or escalate areas of concern

* contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organisation

* review marketing materials, presentations and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

* assist in the gathering of internal information in response to regulatory requests

* collaborate with other departments to create a culture of compliance.

  • Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager
  • Experience in risk management
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g. Anti-Money Laundering, or AML)
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Integrity and professional ethics
  • Business acumen
  • Teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail
  • 2+ years prior experience in risk management or compliance roles
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, a compliance certification
  • Superior attention to detail in order to identify and correct risky practices
  • Must be a strong communicator and capable of expressing oneself clearly both speaking and in writing
  • Possess a collaborative personality and be open to suggestions from team members
  • Exemplify strong knowledge of industry protocols and best practices
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to accurately interpret complex documents and policies
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and able to meet deadlines
  • Should have a strong moral code and sense of ethics
