Job Details

The commercial IT Team is responsible for the majority of customer facing platforms used by ii's customers. The purpose of this role is to work within the technical engineering to provide support for these live, customer facing platforms and any change to them, through technical analysis of new and planned solutions.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide system analysis supporting all aspects of the platforms, providing support for projects delivered through the Software Development Lifecycle. In addition to new change, a key aspect of the role is also to provide analysis across all aspects of the live platform to support continuous improvement.

  • Perform detailed impact analysis of complex technical problems and underlying issues affecting solutions that impact business critical functions
  • Perform analysis on internal and external production systems to assess and understand the impact to them in relation to the planned introduction of change
  • Analyse, validate and document existing solutions and processes and map functional, and non-functional requirements onto the future process model in order to support and mitigate the risk of change
  • Work alongside the technical delivery teams and developers to translate the documented project/product business requirements and translate into how it should be built from a solution point of view. Focus being on not what the solution should be but how it should be built
  • Be prepared to challenge and support the presentation of alternative approaches to business requirements where the feasibility of the request is restricted by technical capability
  • Perform data modelling and forecasting for system, business and proposition changes using relevant tooling (examples Snowflake and Splunk)
  • Perform analysis to support the definition of user stories to deliver non-functional requirements, including but not limited to system testing, performance testing, capacity monitoring, performance monitoring and system/availability monitoring
  • Work collaboratively with SME's to support the definition of technical solutions which may need to consider aspects such as security or regulatory.
  • Provide analysis and support for major/critical live issues and incidents, working closely with other support teams towards a speedy resolution.
  • Support and troubleshoot critical business applications, including individual investigation as well as collaboration with other SME's
  • Provide technical answers to any questions or analysis timely manner

Skills & Experience Required
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the solutions delivery life cycle for both internally developed and external/3rd party systems
  • Knowledge of delivery methodologies and frameworks such as agile and waterfall, with the ability to work across the two.
  • Extensive experience of collaborating with or within an agile/scrum team, as well as supporting small to enterprise projects and programmes
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of the operating environment, business processes, procedures, technical solutions, and transaction lifecycle.
  • The ability to efficiently and effectively build up a clear picture for any solution, without prior knowledge of the platform, as well as the ability to seek out and find the information needed to support delivery technical solutions
  • Good general technical understanding of different architecture stacks and how systems integrate and communicate, including microservice and full-stack architecture.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to follow a problem thread to factual conclusion using thorough analysis and avoiding assumption
  • Ability to both follow and understand log flows and perform analysis across multiple interdependent platforms in order to trace and identify issues and possible resolutions
  • The ability to perform analysis over solutions and processes primarily from a technical perspective.
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively, able to work on multiple projects/problems concurrently, managing time and concurrent deliverables
  • Comfortable with successfully and efficiently collaborating with different people and teams across the business (Developers, DevOps, Technical Leads, Business Analysts, Project Teams)
  • Ability take both technical and business requirements to design highly technical systems connecting disparate systems
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to discuss and explain complete issues to all levels.
  • Able to produce high quality supporting artefacts to assist the team in development of the feature.
  • Proven ability to work with SME's outside of the squad to gain the knowledge needed to support the squads needs
  • Ideally have background in one or more the following roles
    • Development role and/or scripting
    • Operational/Application Support
    • Previous experience of delivering change in and I.T function
    • Working within a regulated environment (such as financial)
  • Experience of the following tools and technology
    • Experience working with Monitoring tooling (e.g. Nagios, Grafana, Splunk)
    • Ability to read/follow logic in programming languages such as HTML, Java, RPG, SQL
    • Transferrable scripting knowledge from experience working with languages environments such as Python, R, shell/bash, PowerShell, perl
    • Knowledge of SQL, Databases, API's, Logs, iSeries, Macros, Trading, 3rd Party Integrations and Interfaces
    • Atlassian estate (Jira/Confluence)
    • Analysis using tools such as Splunk, Snowflake and PowerBI
