Job Details

Role Context:

The Midweight Designer is a key role in the NCS Creative team. Along with the Senior Designer, they are responsible for producing a range of on and offline comms aimed at a variety of audiences, from our core digitally and socially savvy youth audience to education, business, and political stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategically responding to briefs to deliver engaging and audience-appropriate creative across a variety of channels and platforms from print and social to merchandise and event collateral, often to tight budgets and deadlines
  • Collaboratively working with our social team to come up with strong and creative ideas for our channels
  • Applying learnings to future work e.g. from consumer research, post-campaign analysis, or creative optimisation
  • Retouching photography, maintaining the image bank, and occasional photoshoots
  • Resizing and reformatting assets
  • Ensuring the NCS Brand is correctly presented and positioned, giving guidance and feedback to both internal and external partners on how to execute the brand
  • Research and recommend current design trends across all audiences and competitors
  • Follow studio processes and procedures to ensure efficient workflow

  • Good communication skills - Able to clearly explain design choices and pitch ideas
  • Passionate about learning and trying something new and experimenting with technologies or techniques but also happy to work to strict brand guidelines
  • Detail orientated

Experience and qualifications:

  • Excellent Adobe Creative Cloud skills
  • A minimum of eighteen month's experience working either in-house or at an agency
  • Currently working at a Midweight level or at a Junior level and ready to make their next move
  • A strong portfolio that shows a breadth of real-world work across a variety of channels and formats including print, social and advertising creative

  • An interest in creating video content, both editing and filming
  • Photography skills
  • After Effects and Premiere or equivalent
  • Agency experience is desirable
  • Experience of working for a known consumer brand
  • Experience of creating content for a youth audience
  • Experience of infographic and information design
  • A degree in graphic design is advantageous, although other art and design subjects will be considered.

Offer type: This is a fixed-term contract ending 31st of March 2021

Location: This is a remote-based role, however, we are all currently working remotely until further notice.

Remuneration: Dependent on skills and experience.
