ROLE OVERVIEW

UKTBN is responsible for system development and system service for the Lending and Credit roadmap area. It also participates in Business pre-studies and cooperates with IT Architecture and central IT regarding Enterprise Architecture. Cooperation with central IT also extends to cross border development and the resourcing of project delivery. The RPG developer is responsible for design and development of UK's core banking system, UKBR.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Understand business requirements and how they translate into the UKBR application
  • Ensuring development is carried out according to the Bank's IT Development Process
  • Collaborate with a team of IT professionals to set specifications for new UKBR development
  • Writing high-quality code within deadlines
  • Troubleshoot and debug code/programs
  • Evaluate existing application to reprogram, update and add new features
  • Develop technical documents and instructions to accurately represent application design and code


Development Potential: Support and guidance will be provided though it is expected that the successful applicant will be sufficiently experienced to be largely self-sufficient very quickly.

This role will offer the successful applicant the opportunity to broaden their appreciation of how the Bank is run and operated. She / he will improve their network of colleagues not only in the branches but also amongst Product and System Owners, IT-specialists and senior management.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proven experience as RPG developer

- Thorough understanding of, and coding with, both "fixed" and "free format" RPG

- Ability to write efficient SQL, both standalone and embedded inside RPG code

- Modern coding techniques e.g. modules, service programs, activation groups etc

  • Thorough understanding of, and coding with, both "fixed" and "free format" RPG
  • Ability to write efficient SQL, both standalone and embedded inside RPG code
  • Modern coding techniques e.g. modules, service programs, activation groups etc
  • Experience in designing and building applications
  • In-depth knowledge of programming for IBMi operating system and platform using IBM Rational Developer for i
  • Excellent understanding of software design and programming principles.
  • Ateam player with excellent communication skills
  • Experience in Agile methodologies
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
  • Great attention to detail and time-management skills
  • BSc/BA in computer science or relevant field; MSc/MA will be appreciated
  • Good understanding of the Bank's Development Model
  • A desire to continually improve the service delivered to the buisness
