The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Policy & Advocacy the Parliamentary & Stakeholder Manager's remit will be to ensure that the PLSA understands relevant policy debates in Parliament and among key stakeholder bodies, and that the PLSA’s views are heard by these entities with regard to policy and legislation. To support colleagues in ensuring that the PLSA is seen by Parliament and stakeholders bodies as the leading authority on workplace pensions and lifetime savings.

Key Responsibilities:

+ You will lead on the monitoring of developments on policy in Parliament, especially the WPSC, TSC, and APPG, and key stakeholder bodies, such as the ABI, IA, PMI, ACA, TUC, and provide reports on developments to the PLSA
+ You will add value to our Parliamentary monitoring (currently through DeHaviland) providing timely updates to relevant staff and ensuring we are sighted at all times on key developments and relevant issues.
+ You will maintain a “stakeholder” grid which captures key stakeholder views, and recommendations for action / reaction by the PLSA.
+ You will also maintain an up-to-date contact list of key stakeholders (including Parliamentary contacts) on our CRM database.
+ You will support the Director of Policy & Advocacy in the development and coordination of the Association’s lobbying and campaigning activity in Parliament.
+ You will ensure there is a regular and ongoing programme of briefings with target parliamentary contacts. This will include regular contact with ministers and shadows, members of the House of Lords, members of relevant Select Committees and APPGs and interested backbenchers.
+ Working with relevant colleagues, you will provide briefings to Bill Committees and support the production of Select Committee evidence, including preparing colleagues for oral evidence sessions.
+ You will organise a series of private Chair’s Dinners for senior politicians and members of our Board.
+ You will prepare briefing on policy for the CEO and Director of Policy & Advocacy in preparation for meetings with senior politicians and key stakeholders.

Required Experience:

+ Substantial experience in Government Affairs management or Stakeholder Relations.
+ A good knowledge of the workings of Government and the political process.
+ Proven experience of advising and supporting senior executives and nonexecutives, including writing briefings, speeches, and articles.
+ Experience of public policy in the financial services and/ or pensions industry.
+ Strong process management skills.
+ Demonstrable strong analytical skills supported by high intellectual capability.


+ Knowledge of the current issues affecting pensions.
+ Experience of membership organisations.

+ Sound political judgement and personal integrity – the post holder will be exposed to a number of confidential, operational and strategic discussions/ papers.

+ Completer-finisher – an ability to get things done on time and to a high quality.
+ Educated to degree level or equivalent.
