Job Details

SoCode is exclusively partnering with a leading fabrication business supporting high technology regulated sectors. Following a recent business win resulting in a significant long term contract, they require a seasoned Welding Engineer to join the project. Their team of engineers ensure that their manufacturing processes and equipment reliably deliver products of the highest quality, at the right cost, and on time to ensure their customer needs are met.

As Welding Engineer you'll be working alongside their quality, materials and R&D departments as part of their team driving continuous improvement activities, as well as developing other welding technicians and engineers to further enhance their processes.

Key tasks include:

Welding knowledge and suitable experience of the typical work undertaken including materials, processes, consumables, codes of practise and clients
Knowledge and experience of main weld processes including TIG, MMA, MIG/MAG/FCW, SAW, Plasma and any variants of these processes
Technical review of welding and inspection requirements for all aspects of fabrication including new clients / contracts
Preparation and qualification of weld procedures (includes writing, maintenance and control of all documents)
Preparation and qualification of welders (includes writing, maintenance and prolongation of all documents)
Identification of problem areas together with suitable controls
Preparation and control of repair methods (includes NCR documents issue and control)
Material and weld consumable selection and control (includes storage, issue and control of weld consumables)
Selection, control and maintenance of suitable welding equipment for all aspects of fabrication together with new client / contract requirements (includes automatic and robotic equipment)
In depth knowledge of NDE methods applicable to all aspects of fabrication (includes VT, PT, MPI, RT and UT)
Liaison with clients during fabrication together with control of problematic areas
Production, issue and control of work instructions
Qualifications required:

Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) requirements to comply with BS EN ISO 3834, BS EN 1090 and BS EN ISO 14731
International Welding Engineer (IWE) / European Welding Engineer (EWE)
Ideally member of TWI and a Chartered Engineer

Excellent communication skills, ability to deal effectively with a wide range of complex technical issues and develop cross functional relationships
