Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Team Leader on a permanent basis working at our modern and purpose-built Luton (Capability Green) site. The Systems Team Leader will need to be highly-experienced with working on large and complex (ideally airborne sensor) systems featuring a high-degree of interdependency and interoperability within a systems-of-systems (SoS) environment.
The Systems Team Leader will have hands-on experience of leading diverse teams on multi-discipline engineering design projects across the full engineering lifecycle, from capturing and analysing stakeholder requirements through to demonstration of compliance via fully documented and traceable verification methods and evidence. The role will require strong technical and people management abilities to ensure the on-time delivery of fully compliant solutions.
This Systems Team Leader role is within the Major Air Programmes business group, and will focus on the system-level integration and demonstration of technologies for a multi-spectral avionic sensor suite. The system will provide next-generation capabilities (e.g. detection, identification, countermeasure, and communication) to provide unrivaled mission effectiveness and platform survivability.

Key Responsibility Areas
What you will do
Lead the systems engineering team in defining and implementing the full-lifecycle systems approach, inclusive of developing multi-level integration activities and associated facilities.
Liaise with sensor and communication technical specialist teams to define sub-system integration requirements and approaches for software and hardware integration.
Develop and operate system integration facilities, including a ground-based synthetic environment.
Integration of complex sub-systems onto a large-body flight test aircraft and support of flight trials.
Lead the coordination of system integration and flight trial activities alongside internal teams, customers, and industry partners.
Develop and deliver engineering specifications, reports and presentations for delivery to customers and industry partners.
Travel within the UK to meet with our customers and industry partners.
Monitor and manage deliveries against cost, schedule, and maturity measures and contribute to resource and technical planning activities.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the team, setting clear goals and deadlines, monitoring performance, and resolving issues/conflicts.
Developing, and executing engineering against, cost estimates, technical proposals, and activity schedules, including the capture and management of risk.
Manage the team's workload, performance, and ongoing capability provision.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
You really must have:
A strong understanding of systems engineering principles and highly experienced in whole lifecycle product development and delivery of complex/system-of-systems technology.
An ability to influence requirements and design decisions, both internally and within a customer environment.
Experience of managing verification and validation activities to achieve certification, delivery, and acceptance.
Tailoring, implementing and leading systems integration processes and reporting on key measures.
Led the planning, management, and delivery of ground and/or airborne system trials.
Self-motivated with a strong aptitude for problem-solving and decision-making within projects involving design complexity and uncertainty.
Experience of stakeholder interaction and management, with customers and industrial partners.
Excellent written and verbal presentation ability.
Proven experience of team leadership; driving technical delivery alongside proactive people management to create a high performing team environment.
Experience of work package management; cost/schedule planning and tracking, and reporting of key metrics.
It would be nice if you had:
Knowledge and experience of synthetic environments and their use to influence design, integration, test, and demonstration activities.
Understanding of RADAR, EO/IR, ESCM domain concepts and application of technology and processes.
