Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry
The post-holder will provide specialist clinical and professional skills of a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist.
The post-holder will be based at the Beckford Lodge site in Hamilton as part of the Forensic Mental Health Team for Lanarkshire, providing Responsible Medical Officer input to inpatients in Beckford Lodge, Hamilton as well as community outpatients in North Lanarkshire. There will be 2 sessions of psychiatric input to HMP Shotts as part of the post's requirements. The NHS Lanarkshire forensic service is an innovative one which employs the recovery model. The team includes medical staff, nursing staff, psychologists, occupational therapists and administrative staff. The service embraces the Scottish Patient Safety Programme, with ongoing work nationally and internationally recognised.
Occasional input may also be required to be provided at the University Hospital Wishaw and University Hospital Hairmyres psychiatric units on an ad hoc basis for forensic psychiatry patients. The job plan provides time for non-clinical based activities, as well as CPD, research, and audit.
