Job Details
Excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Underwriter (Property & Casualty) to join an established new business team.
Responsibilities:
Underwrite new business profitably and in line with underwriting practices and governance framework.
Manage underwriting relationships with brokers and sales teams to maximise financial results and to generate new business opportunities.
Act as referral point and coach/train and develop Underwriters to improve their technical and trading capability.
Actively manage and review underwriting standards and licences within the team ensuring effective management and deployment of empowerment.
Support Managers to effectively manage the service provided to brokers and input to the performance management of Underwriters.
Demonstrate contribution to loss ratio control by effectively implementing branch underwriting controls.
Identify poorly performing accounts and investigate reasons for lack of conversion and retention.
Candidates must have commercial Underwriting Property and Casualty experience, a strong trading capability and excellent risk assessment/management skills. The role requires a strong level of technical underwriting expertise in a commercial insurance environment and a sound understanding of insurance market and processes across commercial lines insurance operations. Also looking for excellent communication and coaching/development skills and progress toward DipCII is desirable.
