About the role
Product Delivery is a journey, not a one-off event. It needs to be nurtured and grown by enthusiastic and talented people who innovate and collaborate ensuring the products and organisation continue to evolve.

Thames Water is actively establishing a digital engineering function that will continue to create, enhance, and support digital products driving our business objectives and realising business value at pace. A strong emphasis is placed on meeting the needs of the user, driving adoption and benefits realisation.

We use agile principles and a range of technologies to create products our consumers enjoy using and that add value with confidence at pace. Key to this is extensive use of test automation, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines and gateless release process to make daily incremental change a reality.

As our UI Designer, you'll be essential to helping us achieve our ambition as the leading, digital-first utility company. You'll champion digital design and own our Design System for all customer-facing digital products. You'll be guided by, and build brilliant relationships with, our wonderful Customer Experience Team and our amazing Brand Team.

You'll be experienced in agile, iterative development and a huge advocate of user-centric design, gathering user feedback and using this to improve your designs. You'll design products that are intuitive, visually impressive, accessible to all, and bring value to our customers and our business.

Key Accountabilities:

Work within an Agile culture to create digital products iteratively as part of a team.
Build, own and deliver roadmaps to support our digital design strategy.
Work with our UX Designer to deliver end to end design of user experience from concept to implementation. Designs concepts based on real insight about the user, user behaviour, motives and context.
Utilise rapid delivery to create real-life feedback loops to gain quick insight into how users are responding to the product, feature or enhancement.
Use research, backed by qualitative and quantitative evidence.
Ensure appropriate documentation is created to allow build and support of our products.
Record user stories using the 3 Amigos principles.
Work with our UX Designer to prototype as and when required either with developers or as part of "ready for development" to a fidelity requested by the Product Owner as part of team prioritisation.
Create innovative and intuitive designs, which are rigorously tested by user test panels ensuring maximum user adoption.
Work with our UX Designer to deliver effective user story mapping and persona/user needs creation.
Collaborate with internal and external creative digital teams to align on branding, methods, and tools.
Facilitate and run design workshops.
Keep up to date with design trends, industry knowledge and best practice.
Lead the Design Community of Practice, sharing experiences, ideas, and as a group driving continuous improvement. To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or relevant industry experience
Experience working in UX/UI roles
Experience with software such as Sketch, Invision, Adobe XD and Balsamiq
Experience of working with field and office-based teams and delivering native mobile and web applications
Experience of working in rapid delivery teams.
Proficient in collaborative user story creation
You have a strong portfolio showing your experience of UX design across responsive web design, mobile applications. What's in it for you?
