Medical Secretary Supervisor

Band 4 - Pay £22,152 - £24,258

Duration - permanent

Department - REAS

Location - Royal Edinburgh Hospital

Duties & Responsibilities:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and conscientious Medical Secretary Supervisor to provide comprehensive secretarial and admin support whilst supervising a small team of medical secretaries / reception team within the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. This is an extremely busy department with a high volume of workload. Applicants should have previous experience in supervising or managing staff. Have excellent secretarial and advanced/accurate keyboard skill. Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent communication and time management skills. Candidates should also have experience of audio and copy typing.

Key Requirements:

Essential -Have a friendly manner with good interpersonal skills, be motivated to achieve results, have the ability to develop strong working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams, have a positive attitude to change. Have the ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands and use own initiative. Have the ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision, appreciates the values and benefits of the team, be organised and adaptable. Must have experience in audio & copy typing, excellent keyboard skills, excellent oral and written communication skills including minute taking, self motivated person with good time management and organisational skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, experience of supervising/managing staff.

Desirable - Training in the TrakCare Patient management system, Medical Terminology

Further Information: REAS provides a range of Mental Health services to the population of Lothian and other Boards within Scotland. A number of these services are provided on the Royal Edinburgh Hospital (REH) site.
