Electrical Support Manager
SF32850
Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth
Starting Salary: £49,640

About the role
We're looking for an Electrical Support Manager within the Estates Project Department to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.

The Estates Project Department is responsible for delivering extensive and diverse electrical infrastructure upgrades and improvements across the entire Devonport Site and often beyond. A significant, recent commitment to invest in site improvement necessitates expansion of the existing core team to accommodate delivery.

Responsible for the preparation, mobilisation and implementation of a series of Electrical MoD New Works Capex projects through management of a delivery team within the Estates Projects Business. As the Electrical Support Engineer you will manage a multi-disciplinary project team, responsible for high, medium and low complexity projects, ensuring safe design and delivery, timely completion and cost effectiveness. Cradle to grave management across the portfolio, maintaining high standards of delivery whilst supporting the delivery team with day-to-day management, process and financial control.

There is a particular focus on developing and maturing company, site capability and facility readiness initiatives and strategies to enable funding, design and delivery. Driving high safety standards and expectations across all areas of the business whilst being an ambassador for diversity and inclusion.

You will continually monitor performance, resource and map capability to ensure the team is prepared for current and future demand. This will include development of individuals within the team to provide opportunity for future career advancement whilst also managing and overcoming shortfalls or poor performance.

What do I need to do the role?
You will have an Engineering Degree with a background in infrastructure project delivery or an appropriate experience.

We would also like you to have experience in the following areas:
*Experience of Managing a Team with project delivery focus.
*Experience with large Infrastructure projects at all stages of the RIBA process. Can demonstrate a high level of organisation with the ability to self-manage and interface with the customer with little senior management guidance.
*The individual has good communication skills and the ability to deal with a variety of Babcock staff and contractors

What else do I need to know?
*The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
*We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview.
