Lead Character Rigger (TD) Manchester £70,000 - £100,000
We are partnered with one of the Worlds Leading Gaming Companies - some may argue, the best.
This is an opportunity to work with the most advanced and industry-leading facial animation technology available.
Your role as the Lead Character Rigger will be to working with the design, code and animation teams.
This is a role is all about bringing characters to life using advanced scanning, rigging and animation technologies.
This is a real opportunity for you to make your mark on the future of digital human animation and the opportunity to be accredited with some of the upcoming projects.
As a Lead Character Rigger, you will design and maintain highly accurate quality control rigs for a wide variety of characters. Create tools for animation workflows and interactions and write scripts to automate processes and support animation pipeline. You will be responsible for the newly formed rigging tea.
As a Lead Character Rigger you will be:
Passionate about all fields of Character Development and Animation
Demonstrate a portfolio of work - rigging experience for high profile VFX or animation projects
Familiarity with pipeline issues and a big character/creature heavy post-production environment
Expert knowledge/experience of human anatomy & facial expression
An eye for detail and excellent organizational skills
Strong knowledge of Autodesk Maya Facial Rigging and robust understanding of all aspects of character design are essential for this role.
Programming/scripting skills (Python, Maya API, C++) for module and tool development
Understanding of Animation processes and be able to write technical documentation.
Have an artistic flair, excellent communicator, team player and capable of working towards tight deadlines.
A good degree within Animation or an interest in Facial Anatomy and mechanics is ideal. As a Lead Character Rigger it would be beneficial if you:
Experience with working on photogrammetry data and FACS based rigging are highly desirable to rig photoreal characters.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Interest in or experience working with Unreal Engine
Adaptable at handling different tasks and expectations
Good attention to detail
