FSB is seeking an experienced policy professional to join its Wales team and support key policy objectives. This role will also involve the line management of a Deputy Head of Policy (Wales)
A key part of this role will involve supporting the Wales Policy Unit and the Head of Wales. You will be required to conduct research to develop policies for Wales as well as lead in commissioning any external work. This will include consulting with members on an ongoing basis, managing relationships with third party organisation and overseeing national survey work.
This role will require the post holder to undertake external affairs activity, giving evidence to Senedd committees. The successful candidate will have experience developing and maintain a high-level network of key stakeholders. You may also have to give evidence to Parliamentary Committees in Westminster on Wales-related issues as and when required.
You will assume responsibility for the internal communication of policy positions, including drafting policy briefings for the Wales Policy Chair and Head of Wales as necessary
The ideal candidate will have proven experience of originating and managing a research programme in a similar environment. They will also have proven policy experience gained in at least one of the following:
- Policy/public affairs post in similar organisation
- A political party, either as an elected representative or in a policy function
- The Civil Service or a related agency
- The Senedd/ Welsh Parliament
- A think tank or other appropriate third sector organisation or NGO
- A senior role within a recognised research institution
