Job Details

Dunbar Education is working on behalf of a school in Corby to recruit for a Technology/Food Technology Technician to start in Feb 2021, on a permanent basis. This role could be full time or 4 days a week.

Role:

As Technology Technician, you will support the Technology and Food Technology department with lesson preparation, including the preparation of materials or ingredients as required by the subject teacher prior to lessons, organising extra equipment, and ensuring hand tools are kept in optimum condition and stored correctly. You will also have responsibility for the organisation, stock-taking, and ordering of materials/ingredients, and tools in the department.

Required Skills/Experience:

* Educated to at least GCSE level in English, Science, and Mathematics

* Knowledge of COSHH and ESCC regulations, and Health & Safety legislation as it relates to the work of a school

* Knowledge of safe working practices in relation to the handling and usage of hazardous equipment and tools

* Experience in sheet metal work - HIGHLY DESIRABLE

** NO Teaching experience OR QTS needed **

Person Specification:

You should be interested to work within a school environment and will have knowledge around a Technology Subject; Design Technology (woodwork), Graphic Design, Food Technology, or Textiles.

The ideal candidate could be;

* Someone with a degree in one of these Technology subjects or another relevant Engineering subject.

* Someone who has completed an apprenticeship in one of these Technology subjects or in a transferable engineering subject.

* Someone with a practical career or experience in any of these Technology subjects or similar.

* A retired teacher who is familiar with working in this department.

* Experience in sheet metal work - HIGHLY DESIRABLE

** Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate their transferable skills and experience for this position **
