We now need a Senior QA Automation Engineer to support the transformation and the future growth of the business, simplifying our IT architecture by removing our legacy systems and delivering new solutions providing market-leading services for our colleagues, customers and advisers.

Job summary

The Senior QA Automation Engineer is responsible for delivering test automation capability to support efficient software delivery; they will develop and maintain automated testing software tools and framework(s). Automated testing forms an integral part of software development and support in the live environment, the QAAE must ensure that scripts are robust and can be integrated into release automation (CICD) pipelines.

Being a highly capable Automation Engineer, the role holder is expected to lead and influence the automation approach for projects, and may be required to design and develop automated test scripts or new testing solutions for more complex projects.

What you will do
  • Analyse test automation requirements for projects and work with project managers and teams to direct the test automation approach
  • Develop, implement and maintain automated testing via tools and features within automation framework(s)
  • Integrate automated testing into continuous delivery & deployment pipelines
  • Mentor/Coach others in using the automation capability
  • Identify and resolve issues with the test automation software
  • Ensure robust regression packs are deployed with software as it goes live
  • Designing, writing and maintaining test automation scripts
  • Contribute to a culture of testing best-practices
  • Feedback development best practice to aide software test automation
  • Research new tools and best practices for test automation
  • Demonstrate the benefits of automation capability

  • Strong experience working within an agile (SCRUM) development environment and experience working within a waterfall delivery methodology.
  • Good knowledge of QA automation strategies and automation principles
  • Knowledge and experience in using QA automation tools/frameworks like Cucumber with Ruby, Selenium, SpecFlow.
  • Knowledge and experience designing, building and maintaining automation frameworks, Cucumber with Ruby, Selenium, SpecFlow.
  • Proficient in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment
  • Performance Testing - knowledge of industry load and monitoring tools with hands-on experience of their use to meet Non-Functional Requirements.
  • SDLC knowledge

Highly Desirable
  • Experience in Insurance or Financial Services.
  • Experience working in an Agile DevOps environment
  • Experience with APIs, RESTful services and microservices
  • Possess Excellent Technical Programming Skills
  • C/C++; SQL; XML; HTML; CSS.; JAVA; TypeScript; Powershell
  • Performance Testing - knowledge of industry load and monitoring tools with hands-on experience of their use to meet Non-Functional Requirements.
