This role offers you the opportunity to play a leading role in promoting the personal development of students, enabling them to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to lead fulfilling and successful lives. This is a critical role for the College in terms of maximising student attendance, retention, achievement and progression.
In this role you will provide pastoral support and guidance for personal and academic issues to all students in the curriculum area. You will work with students both individually and as groups to support their personal development and to provide a solution-focused approach to removing any barriers to learning. You will work collaboratively with the curriculum team, support departments, parents/carers and external agencies to identify at-risk learners and facilitate necessary support interventions.

You will have experience of working with a wide range of client groups, most predominantly with 14-19 year olds with a range of personal, social and educational barriers.
With experience within a further education environment, you will be able to manage conflicting demands and be able to retain and provide information including knowledge and appreciation of courses, activities, opportunities and other agencies that could be drawn upon to provide additional support for students. You will need to develop a strong understanding of the vocational area that you are part of.You will possess level 2 literacy and numeracy and ideally have a teaching qualification and a counselling certificate up to level 3.
