Our client, an established North West based Manufacturing business, are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join their Senior Management Team.

In this key role you will be responsible for developing and leading the engineering and maintenance team (approximately 20 multi-skilled Engineers) in the execution of the site engineering strategy, including Maintenance Engineering, Capital Projects and Engineering Improvement initiatives.

Principle Accountabilities

Part of the Senior Management Team, contributing towards wider site strategy and objectives.
Lead and implement site engineering strategy, drive improvements through Short Interval Control escalation process and use Engineering framework to deliver continuous improvement within core maintenance systems.
Continually reduce unplanned and planned engineering downtime and slow running of the site's equipment to improve availability and performance as measured by OEE.
Provide clear and visible leadership to the engineering function to drive good governance and high standards of operation to drive engineering best practice
Lead, manage and develop the engineering and maintenance team ensuring they have the resources, skills and support required to deliver site operational objectives.
Ensure the most efficient and effective operating structure is in place partnering with the Site Operational leaders with supporting succession and development plans.
Develop and deliver engineering annual budget and productivity pipeline.
Build strategic capital plans to align with directed sourcing model and annual productivity
Manage and take the lead on capital equipment projects ensuring timely delivery of projects in line with the site strategy.
Drive Engineering Best Practice and Improvement projects to ensure "best in class" engineering practices.
Identify areas of improvement by analysis of asset performance data and in conjunction with the Reliability Manager, develop suitable asset improvement plans
Manage on-site contractors, issue of safe working permits etc.
Ensure 5S is embedded within the engineering facilities
Monitor and mentor site engineering apprentices and liaise with external training providers

Skills and Experience:

Ideally educated to Degree Level in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, additional qualification in Project Management, Management or Continuous Improvement would be highly beneficial
Extensive track record in a similar level position with the ability to demonstrate experience of driving change, implementing engineering best practice and effective management of multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical maintenance practices and procedures (Electrical bias would be preferred)
Ability to communicate effectively, at all levels, particularly with regard to the production of clear and concise technical and non-technical reports
Previous experience with major budgetary control and development of financial plans, including the ability to understand and effectively interpret Profit & Loss accounts
Previous experience of working within high speed, high volume heavy process driven engineering environments such as Fine Chemical, Paper or similar would be preferred
Experience of maintenance planning and scheduling best practice
Proven knowledge and experience of modern maintenance best practice techniques such as TPM, FMECA, OAC, 5 Whys, RCA, CBM etc.
Familiar with ISO9001, 14001 and 5001 systems
