Job Details
We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join my clients IP engineering team.
This is a mixed role supporting pre-dominantly Linux servers delivering the usual ISP and ITSP services. The engineering team is small and the successful candidate will work as generalist who can work across a wide variety of systems and services. They will have some programming skills as the role occasionally involves scripting and also supporting the in house software development team who develop a Windows based CRM that interfaces with wholesalers APIs and core networking servers.
Responsibilities
Day to day system administration keeping systems running and secure in accordance with procedures.
Troubleshooting systems issues which might range from connectivity to application or operating system or database issues. This team is expected to be able to troubleshoot and fix anything.
Troubleshooting network protocols such as SMTP. IMAP, SIP, radius, DNS.
Providing 3rd line support to staff and occasionally directly to customers.
Help develop new systems and capabilities which may involve writing software or assisting others writing software.
Engage in server refresh work.
Document systems and procedures.

Requirements and capabilities
At least 5 years' experience of working in system administration. Pre-dominantly Linux Centos/Debian, some Windows server. VMware an advantage.
Follow procedures and work securely.
Understands network and OS security.
Experience of coding/scripting and troubleshooting other vendor's applications.
Language agnostic - should be able to code competently in at least two languages - Python, PHP, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Pascal/Delphi, C, C# and be able to learn others as required.
Be able to apply existing experience and self-learn new systems. Learn, assimilate and keep up to date with industry technology.
