Cobham Mission Systems have an exciting opportunity for a Lean Six Sigma black belt (known internally as a CIA)

Reporting to the Director of Continuous Improvement, the purpose of this critical role within the organisation is to Drive Business Unit performance improvements though the use of CI tools and encourage the Continuous Improvement culture through: Lean and Six Sigma (LSS) tools, DMAIC and Process Improvement tools, techniques and training

Continuous Improvement Projects are our mechanism for addressing the issues in the business and drive positive, sustained business transformation.

Your key focus will be to lead CI projects, mentor Green Belts and where possible, support in training.

This role is based from Wimborne, Dorset.

We are able to offer flexible working arrangements, such as working remotely with attendance on site on an agreed basis as required.

As a Lean Six Sigma black belt, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Ideally be Lean Six Sigma black belt certified
Depth of experience in driving change
Able to influence and solicit buy in from wide range of BU stakeholders
Able to train, mentor, and coach individuals on tool use and CI objectives
Have an relevant Engineering or business degree
Experience in Aerospace, Automotive, Rail, Marine or similar industry
Extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of lean tools and techniques
Excellent understanding of LSS, DMAIC & CI tools
Objective, fact based and impartial
Critical thinker-can challenge assumptions
High programme management skills, highly organized
Good motivator who can inspire people
Can connect issues and topics across functions
Understands and is sensitive to cultural issues
Effective facilitator
Excellent passive & active communications skills

As a Lean Six Sigma black belt, your main responsibilities will involve:

Understand strategic plan deployment and current state and desired future state KPI's for the business and work with the Director Continuous Improvement to formulate improvement plans to close the gaps
Establish project charters for performance enhancing improvement projects
Drive the agreed improvements through a series of TIPs (Tactical Implementation Plans)
Drive the effective use of RCPS (Root Cause Problem Solving) and RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action)
Support CI initiatives and Black Belt, Green Belt and JDI (Just Do It) CI projects
Actively participate with the LSS globally recognised training
Mentor and support Green Belts
Support management to meet the employer's legal duties and take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions
