Due to increasing workload within Engineering and Sustainable Delivery (ESD), my client has an exciting requirement for an Estimating Manager to lead an established multi-functional Estimating Team.
The role is required to support the company in delivering its £750M, 5-year capital programme of investment for AMP7.
What will I be doing?
This role will enable the successful candidate the opportunity to build upon the existing small yet dynamic team of Mechanical and Civil Estimators, who are responsible for a range of engineering projects.
Not only will you be responsible for growing the numbers of the team to meet the demands of the programme, there will also be a big emphasis on personal development, where you can upskill your teams to help improve efficiencies in the estimating process and to streamline the delivery of commercial estimating on a varied range of engineering projects and installations.
As the Estimating Manager, you'll work closely with our internal and external stakeholders and delivery teams to manage the production of clean and dirty water treatment and network estimates using 1st principles, unit rates or cost models all within agreed timescales.
You will work collaboratively with the wider business and manage the production of other non-mainstream estimates which could include (but not exhaustive) water metering programme, mains rehabilitation, sewer rehabilitation and lead pipe replacement programme or equivalents and all within agreed timescales.
You'll confidently be able to identify key supply chain suppliers and contractors to support the core functions and manage their engagement, procurement and completion of their works within agree SLAs.
A key part of your role will be to provide strategic, estimating and commercial direction and support to the ESD Senior Management team.
Your expert advice and guidance will contribute to AMP7 and future PR24 projects. Additionally, you'll have a big part to play in our internal and external audit challenges across our business.
What are the requirements?
First and foremost, you'll have extensive experience as an Estimator or Estimating Manager with sound knowledge of both clean water and dirty water solutions for both Treatment and Network projects.
Equally important are your people management and communication skills - you need to be an inspirational leader for the team; challenging ways of working while maintaining service excellence across a large number of major projects.
You'll also be engaging with a wide range of senior internal and external stakeholders including design, delivery, planning and construction, so you need to demonstrate your influencing ability too.
Along with your expert knowledge as an Estimator, we are looking for a real people person who is keen on the training and development of their teams. Previous experience of growing a team is highly beneficial, however not essential.
