DevOps Engineer

Southend (Essex)

6 Month Contract

£500/day (Outside IR35)

DevOps Engineer needed for a 6 Month Contract based in Southend-on-Sea (Essex). Must hold active SC Security Clearance. Start ASAP in late December 2020 or in January 2021.

A chance to work with a global IT transformation business supporting the deployment and integration of large-scale Government digital solutions.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic there is currently scope to work remotely / from home until lockdown restrictions are scaled back.

Key skills, experience and tasks will include:

Linux Systems Administration within RHEL technical environments.
Configuration, deployment, diagnosis and troubleshooting of automated services and infrastructure issues for continuous deployment (CI/CD) solutions.
Maintaining version controlled artefacts and configurations.
Diagnosis and troubleshooting for complex multi-server architectures.
Experience of installing / managing open-source products for server orchestration, server hardening and monitoring.
Continuous Integration (CI), automated deployment and testing using Ansible tools.
Scripting / coding experience, ideally Python, Shell, Perl, Java or Ruby.
Github / Gitlab version control tools, branching strategies, JIRA and Atlassian.
Building strong working relationships with internal development teams and 3rd Party suppliers.
Experience of Cloud Deployments and Virtualisation environments.
Familiar with DevOps and ITIL processes, standards and working practices.
Prior experience of working within Agile software delivery environments.
Government / Public Sector domain experience preferred.
Candidates must hold active SC Clearance and be able to provide supporting evidence of SC cleared status (-eg- Sponsor Letter, Email Confirmation, etc)
