I am pleased to be working on an exciting Project Accountant role for one of the most highly regarded international development organisations.
I am looking for a qualified project accountant who has experience in the international development sector, working on overseas programmes. This role will be assigned to programmes across Europe and the Middle East and will support Project Managers across grant funded programmes so experience dealing with institutional donors would be useful.
Reporting to the Group Finance Director, this role is responsible for supporting Project Managers to manage project finances and for performing month-end project accounting tasks. As a qualified accountant you will use your accounting knowledge to improve all forms of project reporting and assist finance leadership in continuous process improvement.
Prepare high quality and timely monthly financial reports in coordination with Programme Manager and Regional Finance Manager, and consortium partners
Supporting Project Managers in day to day project finance management
Facilitate the preparation of monthly invoices to be sent along with the financial and spend reports
Conduct monthly variance analysis of programme spend for PM and presentation during the bi-weekly meeting
Understanding and interpreting the month's performance with insightful comment on variances
Monitor programme budgets and ensure funds are allocated to agreed budget lines
In coordination with consortium partners and Regional Finance Managers prepare robust and timely financial forecasting
Work with the programme's Fund Management Lead to prepare weekly spend and cash flow analysis for discussion with the CFO and other key programme
Review and analyse changes to programme budget in line with corporate and client requirements, proactively identify risks and propose mitigations
Perform an advisory role to PM and PD on budgets, FX rates as per PM's requests.
Join internal and consortium meeting to lead on programme finance discussion
Develop systems and processes to ensure efficient and effective management of project finances and reporting, including monitoring spend against implementation plans/projections
Ensure that the financial systems and processes are fit for purpose and that findings from the fiduciary verification lead to improved financial management processes by the country-based project accountantsThis is an excellent role for someone who enjoys business partnering with multiple stakeholders across a range of country offices, and who enjoys using their budgeting, forecasting and financial planning and analysis skills to add-value.
A qualified accountant
Experience of working on international development projects in a business partnering/ FP&A role
A commercial approach to budgetary management and supporting decision making with non-finance stakeholders
Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to different cultures and ways of working
Strong influencing skills with the confidence to introduce new ways of working
