Java Developer - Research project for worlds leading University
6 Month Fixed Term Contract - £50,000 Pro rata - Fully Remote (UK based only)

Java Developer - A leading academic researcher for a highly prestigious University is looking for an experienced Java Developer to help develop on a cutting-edge Java Research project for 6 months, with the potential for that time to be extended past June 2021. You can work remotely anywhere in the UK or work from the office in Oxford.

You'll engage in the overall design and development of the system. The Java Developer will be working on Java 8, working on debugging highly complex Java code, large scale code refactoring and interaction with some frontend user interface.

As the Java Developer we will offer you:
  • Complete freedom and autonomy to work how you like, tackling complications as you see fit.
  • Technically challenging Java 8 microservices application development scaled through various software container tools.
  • Strong exposure to other JVM tools like Scala.
  • Some Front-end exposure with React and JavaScript.
  • The chance to share ideas with the brightest minds in the research and tech development space!

The office located in central Oxford is relaxed and highly collaborative with a real culture of sharing creative ideas. This Java Developer role will suit an enthusiastic prgorammer looking for 100% hands-on development project that will both challenge and grow your skillset.

Interview process is just 2 stages: a phone call with the Lead Engineer and then a video technical interview.
