Policy, Engagement and Communications Manager
Location: Flexible
Contract: 1 year; Full time
Start Date: January/February 2021.
Salary: £35,000 (commensurate with experience), career average pension and benefits.
Reports to: Executive Director
About the Organisation
Global Schools Forum is the only international membership organisation that supports the non-state education sector. GSF connects school networks, intermediary organisations, funders and other stakeholders to build their capacity, share lessons with one another, and solve key challenges. Our 58 members span 46 countries from India to Uganda to Brazil, collectively running or supporting 17,000 schools who provide quality education to over 2.3 million children.
About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious, entrepreneurial and self-motivated individual who is passionate about social change, keen to learn, and has strong written and verbal communication and programme management skills. The Policy, Engagement and Communications Manager supports GSF's work in the areas of advocacy, programme development and management, and membership.
This is an exciting time for an experienced professional to join the team as we grow our membership base across Asia, Africa and South America and accelerate our impact through our programmes and services.
The Policy, Engagement and Communications Manager supports member-facing functions including membership engagement and recruitment process, supports GSF's policy and advocacy work such as authoring pieces on the successful practices of its members and strengthens GSF's external visibility by writing reports and short notes. An integral member of a small entrepreneurial team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a one-of-a-kind global organisation that is focused on transforming education outcomes in developing countries.

Policy, Advocacy and Communications
In conjunction with the Executive Director and the Senior Advisor:
Policy briefs and Advocacy events
- Draft advocacy materials, background briefs, articles and presentations
- Improve the visibility of GSF's policy and advocacy work to its members;provide resources to the members and tailor content to their needs
- Coordinate with GSF event management on outreach events
External GSF communications
- Develop a communications strategy to include GSF's communications priorities and approach to public events, media engagement, social media, differentiated internal and external communications messaging and purposes
- Implement and manage media tracking service and regularly respond to and amplify content identified through media tracking.
- Manage social media channels and liaise with appropriate programme teammembers
- Engage in online and face-to-face panels and conferences to raise the profile of GSF, member activities and the non-state sector
External Calendar and Database of contacts
- Develop and maintain a calendar of external events, identifying opportunitiesfor GSF engagement
- Develop and maintain a database of external contacts
Special projects
- Project manage specific Advocacy projects, for which we may have additional earmarked funding
- Conduct specific research as may be required, collate findings and develop and disseminate reports on the same.
Programme and Membership
In conjunction with the Programme Director:
Member Offer
- Author RFPs and support the process to vet proposals and bring winningproposals to "live" status
Membership Recruitment
- Manage GSF's member application process, which includes responding to all membership inquiries, serving as the "face" of GSF to applicants throughout the process, and making recommendations for membership approval for all applicants
- Liaise with the Programme team to share relevant information about newmembers
- Ensure the membership application materials are current and streamlined
- Strengthen the membership pipeline through research, the design and implementation of retail recruitment strategies, and tailored outreach
Member Retention
- Track retention of members with the onset of membership fees
Personal Attributes
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work on your own initiative
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a changing and flexible organisation and willing to learn newskills
- Strong administrative and organisational skills; able to manage multiple concurrent activities and projects
- Open to remote or flexible working
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders including members and external partners - much of this will be through online communication
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of Communications, policy and advocacy experience
- Knowledge of the international education sector
- Masters degree in International Education desirable
