Genomics England successfully led the world-leading 100,000 Genomes Project, which compared and analysed individuals' genetic codes to help diagnose, treat and prevent illness.

We're now accelerating our impact, working with the NHS to further develop and embed genomic healthcare and research in Britain. Our next chapter involves working with patients, doctors, scientists, government and industry to improve genomic testing, and help researchers access the health data and technology they need to make new medical discoveries and create more effective, targeted medicines for everybody.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an expert in Bioinformatics & Whole Genome Sequencing to join a high performing team and perform an array of responsibilities. You'll be collaborating with many parts of the business, from team management, external relationship management, innovation and compliance.

In this leading role, you'll drive the adoption of best-in-class bioinformatics solutions, and the implementation of our Bioinformatics Roadmap. You'll be our leading representative for Bioinformatics in all external partnerships and with our customers and suppliers.

You'll also play an important role in assuring our bioinformatics system accreditation, and connect with Quality Assurance and clinical safety teams to ensure our products are fit for clinical use.

Finally, this is a people leader role, and you will be passionate about the coaching, development and career progression of your teams in topics such as machine learning, bioinformatics, and software engineering.

Skills and Experience for Success

We anticipate the ideal candidate will have:

* Strong background in WGS and bioinformatics

* Experience of leading teams

* Experience of working in accredited environment or equivalent (ideally ISO15189, IVDD or ISO13485)

* Experience working in an agile framework

* A demonstrable ability to think about complex problems in an integrated way - systems thinking

Qualifications

PhD or equivalent in bioinformatics or related field
