Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support in a small class on a part time basis for two terms for a lovely school in Durham. The hours are 8:45am - 12:45pm Monday to Friday.
The pupils are aged from nursery to year 4 and have a range of special educational needs including profound and multiple learning difficulties, complex medical needs, sensory impairments, communication difficulties and physical disabilities. We provide a Total Communication environment which includes the use of VOCA big mac switches, Makaton signs and symbols.
YOU:
Ideally experience of working with early years or key stage one pupils who have sensory impairments and communication difficulties
Comfortable delivering personal care including hygiene changes, postural management and physio programmes
Moving and Handling training is essential
PEG feed training and dysphagia training is desirable
Desirably a DBS certificate on the Update Service, however we can process one for you
