We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team at a supportive and dynamic Special Education Needs Provision in Loughborough working with children aged 11-16. The provision needs a SEN Teaching Assistant to support a variety of subjects and skills to children with significant learning difficulties, including ASD and other complex learning difficulties to support and encourage inclusion and independence. You must have a driving licence and access to your own vehicle. The role is to start January 2021 on a long-term basis, this role could be made permanent for the right candidate.
About the Provision:
The provision is a co-educational provision, which helps educate and support children aged between 11 - 16 who have Significant Learning Difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Conditions. The provision is a "Great Place To Work" and has exceptional facilities and support network.
About the Role:
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have experience of supporting a wide range of subjects at KS3 and KS4. They will be able to effectively support the class teacher delivering core subjects (English and Maths) ensuring pupils make good progress from their starting points. The ability to take pupils through accreditation in these subjects would be an advantage. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you must also have experience working with EHCP's and individual behaviour plans. There is bags of room for progression, movement within the business and ability to explore your full potential.
Who we are looking for?
We are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant who has high expectations of self and others and is passionate about encouraging all pupils to have accessible learning. We want someone with excellent interpersonal skills and a can-do attitude, who supports with an enthusiastic and nurturing approach. You will have successful experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant and of working with children with challenging behaviour either because of ASD or SEMH needs. Ideally, as well as being a SEN Teaching Assistant you would be able to contribute to the wider school through assisting sports, arts, music, drama, and other enrichment activities. Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant
* Motivate, support and encourage children to participate and flourish in lessons
* Work with the Class Teacher to identify and improve behavioural issues
* Support a range of subjects as necessary to a KS3 & KS4 class to ensure the effective delivery of the school's curriculum.
* Support and encourage children into achieving the best results they can.
* Ideally, support Art and DT to other children across the school at KS3 and KS4.
* In consultation with the Class Teacher to identify areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure all children are included and supported in lessons
* Working with and supporting children with ASD, ADHD, and other complex learning difficulties.
* Transporting children to and from local hubs where appropriate
