Job Details

Role
To provide financial reporting and accounting services including the maintenance of books & records for the Company, support for of the accounts payable function and supporting the production of financial reports and general management information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ownership of financial recording and bookkeeping tasks within daily (post journals, investigate aging balances and look for resolution, bank reconciliation reviews etc.), monthly & quarterly financial accounting and to ensure timely and accurate month end close for the Branch.
  • Perform and develop existing financial control processes, forecasting and budgeting including co-ordination of the formulation of the business plans/budgets, working in collaboration with individual business units and monitor progress towards their achievement.
  • Control the operating expenses and the capital expenditure programme to ensure adherence to budget limits.
  • Payment run processing review with our banking provider and working with the Treasury and Operations for any funding requirements before payments are made.
  • Ensure that the statutory financial statements and annual accounts are prepared timely, accurately and in accordance with statutory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Co-ordinate the external audit functions of books and records, and financial statements of the Branch.
  • Prepare financial data and reports for business management in the form and at the frequency required by the management committees and the Head Office. Provide management information of a financial nature, and its interpretation for effective business decision making in the Branch.
  • Constantly strive for enhancements of the finance control framework as well as risk and control oversight process.
  • Assist the tax accounting team with tax strategy, including providing information required for transfer pricing, through monthly close processes and reporting requirements including, but not restricted to expense reporting and provision of expenses monthly financial analysis.
  • Assisting in the planning, testing and implementation of systems and processes to support additional financial reporting requirements any other projects which affect the wider Finance team as required.
  • Standardising the documentation for financial operations and reporting and managing the periodic updates and reviews of those documents.
  • Assist the Senior Financial Controller in the month end process as and when required.
  • Any ad-hoc duties as required by the Senior Financial Controller, Head of Finance and Senior Management.


Skills
  • Professional qualification in accounting/finance discipline
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within a team structure.
  • Experience working at a similar level, within accounting, banking or auditing fields preferably in the financial services sector
  • Honesty and integrity in all aspects of their work.
  • An in-depth knowledge of accounting standards and theory, and financial management principles and techniques, including planning, forecasting and budgeting, and the ability to apply them effectively in banking environment
  • Proficiency for making financial evaluations and judgments and an ability to present recommendations, both oral and written
  • Excellent IT skills including MMS office and Excel
  • Good knowledge of reconciliation principles and basic accounting knowledge for accruals and prepayments processes
  • Good Knowledge of SAGE and exposure to VAT principles Excellent IT skills including MMS office and Excel
  • Proficiency for making financial evaluations and judgments and an ability to present recommendations, both oral and written
  • Excellent IT skills including MMS office and Excel
  • Ability to work within a small team
