Director of Finance and Central Services

York

Salary £51,000 p.a

Permanent Contract with up to 9% Employer Pension Contribution

Our client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Executive and qualified accountant to join their team as the Director of Finance and Central Services. They are seeking someone with commercial acumen and significant experience of business or charity financial management, who can build and maintain key relationships with a wide range of partners of this growing charity. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall financial management and be able to provide strategic financial direction and oversight across the Trust. As an expert in this field, you will also be expected to provide advice to Trustees and the Chief Executive as required.

Our client has over 44,000 members and manages more than 100 nature reserves across Yorkshire. They have a turnover of £8m-£10m from multiple income streams and operate from a head office in York with staff at seven other sites. Notably, the Trust has also made a commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 as well as delivering on their core focus to address the ecological emergency through catalysing the delivery of a Nature Recovery Network and by working on creating a sustainable future for Yorkshire.

The Director will lead and manage a dynamic team of staff who work together across financial, IT systems and facilities management and will be willing to take a hands-on approach where necessary.

A professional accountancy qualification and IT literacy are essential, as are excellent communication and people management skills and knowledge of how to support inclusivity internally and externally. Substantial experience at senior executive level, in a growing organisation, is preferred. Experience of commercial development, fundraising and charity governance, contract management, property tenure and transactions would all be welcomed within the skill set of applicants.

Our client is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity
