Grade A Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a special school in Peterborough that are actively recruiting for Special Needs Teaching Assistants to start from January to work with their pupils that have Autism and challenging behaviour. The successful candidate will be working with small classes of between 4-7 pupils which will be made up of pupils aged between 4-19 as the school caters for EYFS all the way up to post 16.
The responsibilities of a teaching assistant at this school are as follows: support the class teacher to deliver work in agreement with the national curriculum, supporting the class teacher to accomplish performance, supporting pupils on a one to one basis, contributing to record keeping, communicating with parents and multidisciplinary teams and presence school trips/outings.
The successful special needs Teaching Assistant will need to be:
• Resilient and able to hit the ground running in an situation that can sometimes be challenging;
• Able to build up a strong and optimistic rapport with the children and young people you're supporting.
You must be eligible to work in the UK and meet Grade A's safeguarding checks for this position as a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) Teaching Assistant. We will also require you to hold a current DBS certificate.
