User Experience Designer
Location: initially remote (ideally based near Birmingham, Glasgow, Bristol or London)
Rate: depending on experience
3-6 month contract
Initially this role will involve remote working however ideally based near Birmingham, Glasgow, Bristol or London, as eventually there will be office meetings and workshops that the contractor will be required to attend.
We are looking for contractors at the market rate, dependent on experience.
We haven't made an IR35 determination for this role yet, however it is likely that this will fall Inside IR35 from April 2021.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced User Experience Designer join our growing national Creative Design team. We're looking for someone with strong user centred design skills, who communicates clearly and persuasively to clients and engages with colleagues. The person for this role would be willing to expand upon their already exceptional skills and learn from other designers and technical disciplines in a fast-paced, progressive environment. Supporting the UX/UI Technical Lead by working with the web development team and other designers to deliver world class engaging websites and applications.
This role offers great scope to grow your experience areas, whether you're developing wireframes and prototypes for MVPs, or consulting on user flows and interaction patterns for existing platforms. There's a huge opportunity to bring greater value to our variety of engineering, infrastructure and architectural design projects. You will bring your ideas, passion and problem-solving approaches to help us deliver fresh, digital solutions. You will also be comfortable in workshop settings, both face-to face and virtually, as well as conducing user feedback sessions. Being a collaborative team player is key, ensuring that delivery is of the highest standard, both visually and technically.
User Experience Designer Responsibilities:
Responsible for designing, amending and implementing small and large scale digital initiatives driven by user needs.
Use a high degree of technical judgement to resolve design challenges.
Utilise your understanding of Information Architecture to apply designs to different development frameworks.
Collaborate with team members and clients to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience.
Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
Create prototypes that can communicate to clients/customers for user testing.
Facilitate client workshops in order to gather requirements and evolve your designs.
Closely work with project managers and other disciplines through the project lifecycle to ensure high quality delivery.
Continuously enhance knowledge and keep up with emerging trends in design.
Support on developing time estimates and project proposals.
Track time spent on projects tasks and communicate with project leads and account handlers on task progress.
Required skills:
Developing wireframes and task flows based on user needs
Collaborating with Designers and Developers to create intuitive, user-friendly software
Confident running or contributing to workshops, gathering feedback and running user testing
Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback
Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers
Develop wireframes and prototypes around customer needs
Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture
Excellent verbal communication skills
Good problem solving skills and attention to detail
Desirable experience:
Knowledge of HTML/CSS; JavaScript is a plus
Good working knowledge of Scrum and Agile development methodologies.
