Scrum Master

Would you like to make a significant impact on the adoption, development and maturity of agile practices within an Engineering team in one of the UK's Largest Defence companies? We currently have a vacancy for a Scrum Master at our site in Christchurch.

As a Scrum Master, you will be working in an Engineering team that is looking to significantly increase the maturity of Agile and DevOps ways of working, so not only will you be supporting the delivery of our work, you will be helping to influence and guide the teams and business in the adoption and understanding of Agile and DevOps practices.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to build agile and scrum practices from the ground up influencing the adoption, growth and maturity of the agile systems put in place within this engineering team. There will be significant opportunities for you in this new created role to make a real impact on the way this engineering team functions day to day. This role will give you exposure to a number of BAE Systems Stakeholders and the potential for progression within the wider BAE Systems Business.

Your main responsibilities as a Scrum Master will involve:

Enable the team to achieve the Sprint goals by removing blockers and facilitating best practice to support the team

Day to day management of Sprints, stand up meetings, sprint demonstrations and sprint retrospectives (in accordance with Scrum framework)

Support of backlog creation, grooming and sprint planning/re-planning based on backlog priority

Take an active role in maturing the teams approach to Agile and DevOps practices

Support wider Communities of Practice for Scrum Masters and Agile ways of working

Sharing knowledge across multiple Scrum Teams

Help define metrics to highlight success

Reporting of sprint progress status, planned work estimations and success metrics to the Engineering Manager

Willing to define, document and iterate our agile processes by enhancing our technical practices

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Experience of running Scrum for software/infrastructure teams

Comfortable using Atlassian suite of products - JIRA and Confluence

Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration and facilitate buy in and shield the team

Agile experience and willingness to coach and champion agile ways of working

Understanding of DevOps

Desirable:

Technical systems engineering background, ideally hands on with modern software delivery toolchains and understanding of continuous integration, continuous delivery and cloud native technologies

Scrum Master certification

Location: Christchurch, Dorset, UK

Salary: £44,850 + dependent on expreicne
