The Company

StorTera is an energy storage innovator best known for our novel single liquid flow battery, a promising battery technology which is currently in the late stages of development. StorTera have also developed and brought to market the StorTower - an intelligent energy storage system which makes use of our own hybrid inverters, lithium ferrous phosphate (LFP) battery modules and a sophisticated AI based control system. We have several exciting and innovative projects to deliver in the UK and Internationally that require an enthusiastic and committed technician to join our team to support the delivery of these projects.

The Role

This hands-on role includes manufacturing and final stage assembly of our electrical energy storage products as well as supporting general workshop management and arrangement. Involvement in design and prototyping of various system components is also required including testing and verification at various stages of development. The candidate will work as part of team, supporting a diverse range of projects. High levels of commitment, attention to detail and a focus on quality are required for this role; in addition to a passion and drive to succeed with an energetic, innovative company that is committed to helping reduce carbon emissions and improving the environment around us.

We are seeking a candidate with strong technical and problem-solving capability, the ability to work independently and to work with a diverse but highly skilled and qualified team. The candidate will need to integrate into a dynamic working environment, work on their own initiative and pro-actively support the company's goals.

Essential experience:
  • Strong working knowledge of 3D design software - preferably Solidworks
  • Understanding of assembly/manufacturing processes
  • Ability to organize and manage hardware, equipment, and stock
  • High level of practical / hands-on experience

Preferred experience:
  • 2 years+ experience in manufacturing or assembly of electrical/other products
  • Basic knowledge of renewable energy and/or energy storage
  • HND minimum in relevant subject-Wiring regulations (City & Guilds 2382-18th Edition)

  • Ability to perform mechanical and workshop tasks involving common processes, machinery and hand tools with a keen attention to quality and detail
  • Ability to model components and basic systems in 3D using Solidworks and produce mechanical design drawings for in-house assembly use and for external manufacture
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to standards, society and the environment

Workshop / Lab Based

Production duties
  • Kitting-up for project builds
  • General assembly work and mechanical fit-out of products
  • Electrical cable making and installation and basic testing

Mechanical Design assistance
  • Component prototyping - plastics, sheet metalwork, basic electrical and wiring work
  • Testing and verification of prototype parts

  • Workshop organisation - boxing, labelling, tidying
  • Goods In / Goods Out administration
  • Checking deliveries
  • Stock list & inventory checking
  • Packing and crating

Office Based

Mechanical Design (Solidworks)
  • Layout drawings for proposals and client-facing requirements
  • Component design - concept creation, modelling and production drawings for internal and external use
  • System layout design - modelling and creation of in-house production drawings
  • Creation of parts lists and bills of materials
  • Drawing and model updates - As-Built drawings on project completion

Production Administration (Word, Excel)
  • Creating and updating standard operating procedure & assembly documentation
  • Bills of Materials (BOMs) creation & updates (from Solidworks masters)
  • Design drawings, assembly and QA documentation collation for production

  • Market and competitor product research
  • Office administration - delivery notes, labels etc.
