Job Details

ACS are looking for Substitute Teachers to join their team on a casual basis. We are looking for Teachers with experience of teaching different subjects and age groups. We are particularly interested in Science, Maths and History Teachers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implements/delivers effective lessons as outlined by the absent teacher
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned
  • Maintains reasonable rules of conduct that encourage self-discipline and responsibility
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the supervisor and school personnel immediately
  • Communicates effectively with parents when/as needed
  • Makes provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom, schoolyard)
  • Attends staff meetings, serves on staff committees, and completes other duties as assigned (i.e. cover for other academic support positions)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Educated to bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) minimum
  • Teaching qualification or equivalent teaching experience, working with students grade K-12
  • Strong IT skills preferred, good IT skills essential
  • Experience teaching the IB or AP curriculum is preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrates consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Ability to comply with written and or oral instructions
  • Ability to create an efficient working relationship with other personnel
  • Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management skills
  • Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management skills
  • Fluent in English
