The SLT of this forward thinking secondary school are seeking an outstanding Newly Qualified Computer Science Teacher, or experienced Computer Science Teacher who is passionate about Computer Science and has an unwavering belief in the potential of young people. The role is to start ASAP, on a full time basis through to Friday 18th December initally to cover a sickness cover. As an NQT, you will be supported by experienced colleagues on a range of issues relating to planning, teaching and assessing with a dedicated mentor and a skills development programme that will provide you with the experience required to be a successful practitioner in education. Computer Science is increasingly growing in popularity within the school as well as outside the classroom. The school puts well-being and development at the heart of its work and we have very talented staff who are encouraged to grow, develop and work collaboratively. They are therefore eager to support the teachers of tomorrow in their aim to join this excellent profession.
Our client is a secondary academy based in Slough. They have approximately 620 students on roll and this will increase year on year. They are fortunate to have a new state of the art and purpose-built facilities, which provide an outstanding learning environment in which to deliver an exciting curriculum and broader learning opportunities. Additional funding has recently been secured to make further developments and improvements and it is fair to say that learning at the school is not confined to the four walls of the classroom, as teachers are encouraged to utilise the 'break-out' spaces within the building.
They study a rich and broad curriculum that embraces literature from all cultures and eras. The KS3 curriculum prepares the Year 7-9 students for the challenges of the new GCSEs and allows GCSE students the opportunity to learn with an experienced AQA Examiner, study within target groups and enjoy regular 'English in the Hall' subject lectures to prepare them for their post-16 study.
The school organise extra-curricular activities that complement the curriculum. The lunchtime grammar surgeries, Theatre trips, Newspaper and Homework clubs are well attended and fuelled by both staff and students' interests. Indeed, they regularly encourage pupil voice as a way of improving and shaping practice.
