Job Introduction
BBC Studios is a global creative powerhouse for the development, production and distribution of bold, British, content. We produce over 2,500 hours of content per year, operate in 22 markets globally and generate revenue of £1.4bn, returning around £200m profit to BBC public Service each year. In the UK, BBC Studios enables audiences to enjoy their favourite BBC programmes and brands outside the licence fee-funded window on alternative platforms, through a range of partnerships, and in multiple formats, from products and magazines to events and experiences.

We are seeking a Technical Operations Manager to join the team on a two year fixed term contract. This a key management role that requires the technical and operational credibility, experience and stakeholder management skills to develop, deliver and support BBC Studios Global Operations content supply chain technology, systems and operational processes.

Reporting to the VP Global Media Technology this role sits within our Media Technology team whose purpose is to provide the specialist operational and technical skills and knowledge required to support our content supply chain operations.

Role Responsibility
Provide technical and operational support for the Global Operations content supply chain.

Manage and support media workflows including content acquisition, post production, localisation and file delivery

Manage and support dedicated media production IT systems, infrastructure and technologies, including networking, media storage, editing platforms and operating systems

Manage the design, development and implementation of technical and operational workflows, systems and solutions that support the content supply chain.

Act as a key contact for technical and operational issues for both internal and external stakeholders.

Identify and promote opportunities to improve the operational and technical efficiency and effectiveness of the content supply chain including new and emerging technologies and industry best practice.

The Ideal Candidate
At BBC Studios, we seek people who are passionate about who we are and what we do.

You will demonstrate a passion and interest in BBC Studios and the content we produce and would have gained the practical skills, knowledge and experience required by having worked in similar roles within the media and entertainment sector.

Media content supply chains are complex and in order to be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate both the technical and operational understanding and capability to support the key stages, technologies and processes required including production, content ingest, post production and delivery.

With exemplary leadership, you'll be skilled in leading projects and product teams. You'll evidence effective decision-making and identification of practical technical trade-off options and prioritisation decisions. You'll be self-motivated and organised, with the ability to manage multiple active workflows and drive delivery to time and budget whilst minimising risk. Proud to deliver to deadlines and demonstrate resilience, you'll be an accomplished influencer across all partnerships and be competent communicating complex technology solutions in a clear and coherent way. You will demonstrate good working knowledge of content and information security standards and best practice in relation to media management and content supply chain. A thorough understanding of media cloud technologies and platforms (AWS, Google, Microsoft Azure, etc) ideally gained in a technical supporting role would be a distinct advantage.
