Job Details

The successful person will be responsible for:

Provide leadership and vision as a Head of Profession within Homes England, and attend and present at internal and external events.
Work alongside the other Heads of Profession in order to promote multi-disciplinary teams and agile ways of working.
Lead, manage and develop Developer, QAT and DevOps teams.
Improve our approach to Software Engineering by introducing (or stopping) ways of working, and in collaboration with other technical colleagues, defining technical standards and principles.
Build a diverse and thriving community of Software Developers and foster an agile DevOps culture.

ResponsibilitiesIn order to complete the responsibilities for this role, the successful candidate will have:

Expertise and leadership?- you will be an expert in the field of Software Development and have a broad knowledge of current and new technologies which you will use to bring people with you. You will have experience of leading a large and distributed development community across different parts of a large organisation.
Excellent knowledge of modern technical architectures and paradigms including event-based design, containerisation, microservices, APIs, loose-coupling.

Good understanding of a broad range of technologies such as:
- HTML/CSS, C# .Net and .NET Core, Java
- Oracle, MS, PostGres DBs, DWHs, CosmosDB, MongoDB
- CI/CD tool e.g. Terraform and Jenkins
- Cloud technologies e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform

Engaging at a senior level with a wide range of digital specialists, suppliers and stakeholders to contribute to and assure detailed technical architectures and designs in line with Homes England and Government strategy.

Leadership - building trust within your team and inspiring those around you

Learning - leading the development of your profession by training, coaching and mentoring
