Job Details

We are currently recruiting for a Buyer, based in the Sand Hutton area of York. This role will be a pivotal role within an innovative technology-led company who develop, manufacture and distribute rapid testing products for a range of medical, veterinary and engineering applications. The company are going through an exciting period of growth and are wanting to here from those who feel they would be a real asset to the company!
You will become an integral part of the team and should be able to help with the purchase of goods, components and services.

As the Buyer, you will report directly to the Procurement and Planning Manager. The role will demand that you can work upon your own initiative, have the ability to prioritise workloads effectively and be able to meet strict deadlines. The right person must have a strong sense of professionalism and be willing to be flexible in the tasks they carry out day to day.

The role will entail the following responsibilities:
Prepare and raise Purchase Orders and order schedules.
Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments to give operational visibility of material supply.
Maintain supplier related data and documentation (e.g. cost, ETA's, contract details, INCO terms, lead time and additions to the Approved Supplier List).
Manage and report on supplier performance against agreed business KPIs including implementing a Vendor Rating process and highlight any supply problems and supplier risks.
Propose/ implement corrective action plans.
Responsible for the maintenance of contract information.
Collate sourcing information involving potential new suppliers and carry out benchmarking on the current supplier base.
Provide procurement support on new projects as necessary.
Ensuring safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety e.g. COSHH and Risk Assessments etc.
Keeping on top of Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring regulatory compliance in conjunction with being 'fit for purpose' operationally and commercially

Essential Requirements:
Degree level of education
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role in a highly regulated industry such as Medical Devices
Highly operations focused with proven communication skills at different levels with both internal and external contacts. Effective time management skills, be motivated, committed and have the ability to work independently
Competent and disciplined to maintain accurate computerised systems (i.e. SAGE/SAP)
Disciplined organisational and computer skills using Microsoft packages with particular emphasis on Excel skills.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
Familiar with GMP/LGMP
CIPS qualified or working towards a CIPS qualification
The successful candidate will receive a salary of up to £28,000 per annum (dependent on experience) as well as a range of additional benefits.

If not already studying for CIPS, being willing and keen to do so, in the long run, is a key part of this role (this would be paid for by the company.)

This is a full time Monday to Friday role, you will be based out of the York site/office majority of the time.
