Title: Senior Support Worker
Location: Christchurch, BH23
Nearest Station: Hinton Admiral
Wage: Up to £15.00 gross per hour.
Driver Essential? Yes
Essential: Experience with children/young people with complex needs, personal care, physically fit and non-smoker.
Desirable: Basic knowledge of therapies such as hydrotherapy, experience using Eye Gaze communication aid, switches and other specialist IT technology
Start Date: ASAP, one year fixed contract
Days & Hours: Average of 30.8 hours per week on a Rota basis

About this client/child:
Jack is a very sociable 15-year-old young man who enjoys movement of all kind, music and listening to stories. Jack has cerebral palsy, reflux and associated medical issues. He is a full-time wheelchair user, dependent in all areas of self-help skills and requires a high level of assistance to undertake all activities. Jack loves to be active but is limited by his physical disability.

Overview of role:
As Senior Support Worker, you will work alongside Jack's parents, other support workers and therapists within the family and home environment, as well as facilitating activities away from the home. Your focus will be to maximise Jack's independence in all activities and enable him to pursue social outings. Your role will also consist of reviewing care plans, team supervisions and regularly checking all equipment is in good working order. In carrying out the above to a high quality, you will give Jack's parents the security of knowing that their son is always in safe reliable hands. The role of Senior Support Worker offers an average of 30.8 hours across 7 days, following a four weekly rota. This will include morning, afternoon, evening and sleeping night shifts. They can offer up to £15.00 gross per hour depending on experience. (Sleeping Nights are paid at the National Living Wage). An additional 19 hours will be available during the school holidays. A degree of flexibility will be required to cover holiday and sickness. Please click here for a sample rota. Who this job would suit:
As well as being pro-active, resilient, and experienced working with clients with complex needs, the Senior Support Worker should also be physically fit and confident in water. Jack responds well to someone who has a good sense of humour and a cheery disposition. You must be a confident driver with a full, clean driving license and be happy to drive Jack's adapted vehicle. The role will involve driving Jack to and from London once a month. The family have a strict non-smoking policy at home.
